What a great event to bring together all the players in the French sports sector! A big thank you to all those who participated to make the most of this day.
Last week, Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy and Finance, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, Minister of Sports and Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Olivier Ginon introduced an afternoon of debates and networking organized by the Filière Sport. A highlight of this first month of 2023 for the French sports community.
Thank you to all the speakers whose interventions testify to the importance of the sport sector in the French economy. Thank you to our President Claude Revel, Cédric Roussel, Sébastien Moreau, Michaël ALOÏSIO | Paris 2024 – Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Jacques Rivoal | Rugby World Cup France 2023 for sharing their expectations, their own agendas, their visions and their individual roles to play in the common work of making France a leading sport nation at the international level. They emphasized the important contribution of business which is increasingly significant to the French and global economy.
This was an opportunity for our member companies to exhibit their know-how on a common stand and to meet with representatives of the French administration, foreign embassies, sports federations, clubs and civil society.
It was also an opportunity for Benoît Gausseron of Groupe BPCE to unveil their new study on the economic weight of sport in France.
Some key figures:
The sports sector in France: 2.6% of French GDP
71 billion euros: sales generated by companies in the sports sector.
With 128,000 companies, the sports sector confirms its richness and diversity but also its vitality with 10,000 to 15,000 new companies created each year.
A big thank you to Gaëlle Millon for leading this event, to Fabienne BOURDAIS’ team, especially to Laurent Letailleur from the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games for making it a success and a special thank you to GL Events for organizing and hosting the event at the Maison de la Mutualité.
We look forward to working together to build a solid economic and social legacy for the major international sporting events to come to France in the coming years and beyond!
