What a great event bringing together all players in the French sports industry! A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped us make the most of the day.
Last week, Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economics and Finance, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, Minister for Sport and the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and Olivier Ginon opened an afternoon of debates and networking organized by Filière Sport. The event was a highlight of the month for the French sports community.
Thank you to all the speakers, whose talks highlighted the important role the sports industry plays in the French economy. Thank you to our president Claude Revel, to Cédric Roussel, Sébastien Moreau, Michaël Aloïsio | Paris 2024 – 2024 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee and Jacques Rivoal | Rugby World Cup France 2023 for sharing their expectations, plans, visions and personal contributions to the collective goal of making France a leading nation for sport on the international stage. Speakers emphasized the important contribution made by businesses, and their increasingly important role in France and the world’s economy.
It was a chance for member businesses to promote their expertise at a group stand and meet with representatives from the French government, foreign ambassadors, sports federations, clubs and citizens.
Benoît Gausseron of Groupe BPCE unveiled the group’s latest study on the economic importance of sport in France.
Key figures:
The sports industry in France: 2.6% of French GDP
72 billion euros: revenues generated by businesses in the sports industry.
Counting over 128,000 businesses, the sports industry has confirmed not only its wealth and diversity, but also its vitality, with 10,000-15,000 businesses created per year.
A huge thank you to Gaëlle Millon for ensuring the event was a success, to Fabienne Bourdais’ team, in particular Laurent Letailleur of the Ministry of Sport and the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and to GL Events for organizing and hosting the event at the Maison de la Mutualité.
We look forward to working together on developing a solid social and economic legacy from the major international sports events set to be held in France in the coming years!
