24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous car racing event in the world. In 2012, the American National Geographic Society named the race the top sports event in the world. Created in 1923 and organized by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the race is an endurance trial in which the winner complete the most laps around the course in 24 hours.
In terms of viewers, 24 Hours of Le Mans attracts the highest number of live viewers for any car race, with an average 113 viewers over the course of the event.
In 2022, the event was broadcast to 196 countries, with 107 cameras installed. On Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, a total 98 million impressions were generated in 2022.
In financial terms, the event generates an estimated 72 million euros in business over the year and creates almost 2,500 direct and indirect jobs for the region.
