The Montpellier International Festival of Extreme Sports (FISE) has been the world’s largest extreme sports event since 1997. Every year, more than 600,000 spectators flock to the banks of the Lez in the centre of Montpellier.
More than 1,800 international pro and amateur athletes defy gravity over five days of BMX, skateboarding, rollerblading, scooter, mountain biking and wakeboarding events.
They represent more than 100 nations, with 55% men, 45% women at the last edition and some 60% of athletes aged between 15 and 25.
More than 2,000 riders came to the 2019 edition, comprised of 43% pros, 45% amateurs and 12% juniors, and a total of 54 different nationalities.
In terms of media coverage, there were more than 200 hours of video broadcast on TV, more than 40 hours of live broadcasts, over 400 accredited journalists and over 27 million impressions on social media.
In 2014, FISE Montpellier joined the FISE World Series, with subsequent editions in China, Japan, Canada, the US, Malaysa, Hungry, Andorra and France.
Through its international, media and sporting reach, FISE is the ideal showcase for France’s expertise in ensuring the success of international sports events.
